Our Story
Welcome to Isabella’s Gold and GARLICAA Legacy Farm at River Cottage on the beautiful Tasman Peninsula in southern Tasmania.
This Adventure was born from love and loss.
In memory of our beautiful daughter Isabella, my family and I wanted to create something meaningful for our family, and the memory of Isabella. The name GARLICAA honours our children and us as parents.
We believe in turning waste into wonder.
We raise Black Soldier Fly larvae in our purpose-built shipping container using local Tasmanian waste — fish trimmings, oyster and prawn shells, fruit seconds from local orchards, spent coffee grounds, and used cardboard.
The larvae transform this waste into two premium products:
• Tassie Wriggle Grubs — high-quality live, frozen, and dried Black Soldier Fly larvae for fishing bait, reptiles, birds, aquariums and zoos.
• Isabella’s Gold — our marine-enriched frass fertiliser, rich in calcium and natural chitin that helps protect plants against mould and disease.
Every product that leaves our gate supports local businesses, reduces waste, and creates something truly valuable from the land we love.
We are proud to be a small, family-run operation doing things the right way — sustainably, transparently, and with heart.
Thank you for being part of our journey from waste to wonder.
